Makey Makey

Jay Silver is an engineer with a new found sense of creativity and curiosity. Silver earned his PhD from MIT  Silver's most recent project is Makey Makey. The very popular, and innovative invention allows a person to turn everyday objects into controllers for a computer. He developed this design with Eric Rosenbaum a fellow MIT graduate. Makey Makey is an invention kit containing alligator clips, USB cables, and a circuit board. The alligator clips are clamped to an object, and then hooked up to the computer. The computer interprets the touch of the object as a keystroke or a movement of the mouse. The kit costs just $50.
Makey Makey is being used by people of all ages, and for different reasons. Most people who purchase this project are using it as a toy. Using all types of foods, and household objects to control there computer. Although it can be very entertaining, Makey Makey is also being used for more important things. Some teachers are using it for educational purposes. Makey Makey has been used to allow some kids with cerebral palsy to be able to access the internet. People are continuing to explore new ways to use Makey Makey.

  1. This Makey Makey seems really cool. I would love to turn random objects into computer remotes. When Macke steals your books, I could use the Makey Makey to control my computer with that book. This seems like a very fun invention.

  2. I think this would be a cool thing to have because you can use pretty much anything to control the computer as long as you have the kit. The kit is decently affordable too. If I played games on the computer more, I would probably buy this kit because it seems like it would make the games more fun to play.
